Most people know the importance of drinking water very often, however, most people are not aware that the temperature of water you consume is also very important.

Many people are not aware of the fact that drinking chilled water can do more harm than good. Below are some health effects of taking cold water too often;

1.) CONSTIPATION

Regular intake of cold water can lead to constipation. When you drink cold water during meals or after meals, the food solidifies and hardens when passing through the body.The major cause of constipation is when the intestines contract and drinking cold water often causes the intestines to contract. In other words, drinking lukewarm water helps in digestion.

2.) FAT STORAGE

Taking cold water after meals affects the breakdown of fats in the body. Cold temperature in the body solidifies fats making them more difficult to digest. That is why it is advised that even if you drink room temperature water, you should wait for about 30 mins after each meal before you drink water to achieve the best results.

3.) HEADACHES

If you can recall, most times when you are having ice cream, you most times have a brain freeze. This is similar to always consuming cold water.  It chills many sensitive nerves in the spine, and they immediately relays messages to your brain, which in turn causes headaches.

4.) SAPS ENERGY

Dont get me wrong, drinking cold water gets you to feel very refreshed but it is only for a short term, it actually serves to drain your energy in the long run.
