Many people are not aware of the fact that drinking chilled water can do more harm than good. Below are some health effects of taking cold water too often;
Regular intake of cold water can lead to constipation. When you drink cold water during meals or after meals, the food solidifies and hardens when passing through the body.The major cause of constipation is when the intestines contract and drinking cold water often causes the intestines to contract. In other words, drinking lukewarm water helps in digestion.

Taking cold water after meals affects the breakdown of fats in the body. Cold temperature in the body solidifies fats making them more difficult to digest. That is why it is advised that even if you drink room temperature water, you should wait for about 30 mins after each meal before you drink water to achieve the best results.
