The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has announced the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Ademola Adeleke as Osun Gov-elect on Sunday 16 July 2022.
Here are six things to know about him
1.) Ademola Nururdeen Jackson Adeleke is a businessman and a Nigerian Politics. He was born on 13 May 1960 in the family of Adeleke of Ede in Osun State.
2.) Ademola start his primary education in Surulere Lagos State at a Methodist primary school and he later move to Old Oyo State and attended Nawarudeen Primary School, Ikire. He attended his secondary school at Seventh-day Adventist Secondary School, Ede in Old Oyo State, and later moved to Ede Muslim Grammar School Ede, where he finished his secondary school education before relocating to the United States.
3.) He started higher studies at Jacksonville State University, Alabama in the United States where he majored in criminal justice and with a minor in political science.
4.) He started his political career in the year 2001 with his late brother Senator Isiaku Adeleke who died in April 2017. He was a senator that represented the Osun-west senatorial district between 2017 and 2019.
5.) Ademola is a father of five including singer B-Red and uncle to popular musician, Davido. From 1992 to 1999 he served as an executive director of Guinness Nigeria PLC, he also was the group executive director at his brother’s company, Pacific Holdings Limited from 2001 to 2016.
6.) He contested the Osun west 2017 by-election after the death of his brother, emerging as the winner under the People’s Democratic Party. In 2022 he contested the Osun State governorship election and defeated the incumbent governor Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola.
