Adefowora Abiodun, one of the suspected promoters of the cryptocurrency trading website Crypto Bridge Exchange, voluntarily turned himself in to the anti-graft organization on Monday after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission recently proclaimed him wanted.
In a decision last Thursday, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted the EFCC’s plea to detain and arrest six CBEX promoters while the investigation into the alleged violations and potential prosecution is completed.
Following arguments by the commission’s attorney, Fadila Yusuf, the EFCC declared Abiodun and five other people wanted: Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, Seyi Oloyede, Avwerosuo Otorudo, and Chukwuebuka Ehirim.
Justice Nwite declared, “I have listened to the submission of learned counsel for the applicant (EFCC),” following the hearing of the EFCC’s application. Along with the written speech, I have also gone over the affidavit evidence and exhibits. I grant the application as requested because I am convinced it is meritorious.
Due to their suspected involvement in a fraudulent investment scheme worth over $1 billion, the EFCC proclaimed all six promoters wanted.
After making the announcement, Abiodun turned himself in at the EFCC offices on Monday at approximately 4:00 p.m. with his attorneys.
Abiodun stated that he would be open to working with the EFCC.
According to Babatunde Busari, the suspect’s attorney, his client made the decision to submit to an investigation in order to clear his name and rectify the inaccurate information that was being widely disseminated in the media.
