Two days after being accused of sex with two of their students, Leslie Gillespie an Alabama teacher took her own life.
She was a professor in Hillsboro, Alabama at R.A. Hubbard High School. Two days after her arrest, she was found dead on 29 May 2021. She was 44. She was 44.
She was charged with two felonies for allegedly having sex with two students, ages 15 and 16. According to AL.com, a criminal complaint accused Gillespie of having sexual contact with the students in 2020 when they met her in her classroom. Her bail was set at $60,000 and she was released.
Deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office were called to her home at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, where they discovered her body.
According to AL.com, county coroner Scott Norwood stated, “It appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Her body has been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy and determination of the cause of death.
