Aisha Ahmed Wins Adamawa Gov Race, Becomes Nigeria’s First Female Governor-Elect

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the elected Governor of Adamawa State, making her Nigeria’s first democratically elected female governor.

Aisha, popularly known as Binani, did not only defeat Ahmadu Fintri, the incumbent governor of the state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but she also crossed the religious and cultural barriers which had always stood in the way of women seeking political positions in the country.

Binani successfully crossed these hurdles to become the first governor-elect in the political history of Nigeria. She has now joined the league of Nigerian Women and has made history.

Congratulations to her.
