Amos Ewa Obere (ASP Rtd), a traditional ruler who was the head of his community and other surrounding villages was said to have been shot at and killed by unknown gunmen at about 10pm on Friday at the Odu community, Udege area of Nasarawa State.
The deceased is reported to have sustained injuries in his stomach and he was rushed to the hospital but was later confirmed dead at the hospital.
According to a source:
“When they stormed the community, they went straight to the palace, dragged the traditional ruler out, told him that his days on earth are over and then fired bullets at him severally.”
Mr Joel Ogapa, pioneer chairman of NUJ in Nasarawa State,confirmed the incident and spoke about the unfortunate insecurity in the community.
“I have not been home in the last two years due to high level of insecurity in the local government.”
However, the chairman of Nasarawa Local Government, Mohammed Otto and Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Rahman Nansel, couldn’t be reached for comment as their numbers were both switched off.
