Buhari Constitutes Health Reform Panel, Names Osinbajo Chairman.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has approved the establishment of a Health Sector Reform Committee to get-going as the development and implementation of a Health Sector Reform programme for Nigeria in collaboration with state governments and the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

It has been duly observed that Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa was appointed to replace Dr. Ihekweazu as NCDC Director-General.

This was as he appointed Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo as chairman of the committee and Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa as Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday titled, ‘President Buhari sets up Health Sector Reform Committee, names vice president Osinbajo as chairman’.

This came right after a Health Sector Diagnostic Review Report developed by a consultant, Vesta Healthcare Partners and the Federal Ministry of Health.

According to the statement from a reliable source, the committee will undertake a review of all healthcare reforms adopted in the past two decades and lessons learnt and factor them into the development of the new Health Sector Reform Programme.

Vesta Healthcare Partners and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will serve as resources persons and have observer roles in the committee.

Meanwhile, the President has also approved the appointment of Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa as the new Director-General of NCDC. The President has also named him as a member of the committee.
