Court Sentences Man To One Year Imprisonment For Human Trafficking

The National Industrial Court has jailed a 29-year-old man, Agantem Anthony to one-year imprisonment for human trafficking in Kano State.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, February 9, 2023.
Kano court sentences man to one year imprisonment for human trafficking
Honorable Justice Ebeye David handed down the verdict guilty on the 2nd of February 2023, after finding Agantem guilty of trafficking in person, preferred against him by the agency.
 The statement read, “The convict – a 29-year-old Male of Bassara Village was charged for attempting to procure the illegal entry of a Female from Ogun state to go through Kano, Katsina, Niger Republic and then Libya an offense Contrary to Section 29 and punishable Under Section 26 (1) of the Trafficking in Persons Act, 2015. He was sentenced to 1-year imprisonment without the option of fine.”
