Afrobeats musician Iyanya has explained his relationship with Davido and Wizkid by claiming that he is a professional musician who performs the music of other musicians.
Iyanya explained on X that he plays Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos” and “Morayo,” highlighting the fact that it’s his responsibility to keep up with emerging styles and trends in the music business.
Iyanya also stated that he has performed songs by other musicians, such as Joeboy (“Viva Lavida” album), Fireboy (“Adedamola” album), and Fola.
He claimed to have just met Burna Boy at a party where they “vibed well” and denied having any issues with other musicians.
“I have nothing against any artist,” he wrote on X. Like I do with all of the other artists’ songs, I performed Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos” and “Morayo.” Artists are the first to listen to other artists’ projects when they are out, though most artists won’t admit this. It’s our job to understand the game’s sound and other elements. Prior to his huge single, I was playing several of Fola’s tunes.
“I always get introduced to new artists’ sounds via @ubifranklin1, who enjoys listening to a lot of them. Joeboy’s “Viva Lavida” and Fireboy’s “Adedamola” albums are both ones I play, and I warn you not to get hostile. In order to avoid losing this friend, quit it. Three weeks ago, Burna and I still went to the club, and we got along great. There are fans that try to push agendas that don’t exist.
