Fake Soldier Arrested While Trying To Secure Friend’s Release From Police Custody

The police in Niger State have arrested a “fake soldier’’, Emmanuel Dominic, 24, of Tungan area of Minna. 

The police also arrested five other suspects for vandalising two transformers in Chanchaga Local Government Area of the state.

On Wednesday, Police spokesman in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, made the disclosure in a statement in Minna.

The PPRO said the suspect dressed in Nigerian Army camouflage, went to the Police Division on October 27, and paraded himself as a soldier of Nigerian Army with service no. 05313 attached to TRADOC, Minna to secure the release of his friend in police custody.

 Abiodun stated “During interrogation, the suspect was discovered to be a fake soldier and subsequently arrested and later confessed that he had been a barrack boy of Army barrack Minna. He also claimed that the uniform in his possession belongs to his late father whom he said was a soldier,”.

Exhibits recovered from the suspect during investigation includes; one wooden carved gun, two axe, one jackknife, two kit bags, two OG green trousers, one army camouflage vest, shirt, boot, face cap, and a walking stick.

The suspect is equally suspected to have been robbing victims in Minna and its environs with the wooden carved gun, jackknife and the axe. 

The case is under investigation while the suspect will be arraigned in court for prosecution immediately after investigation is concluded, DSP Abiodun added.
