For the first time in history, Gambia has qualified for the 2022 African Cup of Nations championship – after they defeated Angola 1-0 on Thursday, March 25 -to occupy the second position in Group D with 10 points

FC Zurich forwards Assan Ceesay scored the winning goal for the Gambia against Angola in this encounter for them to get the ticket even though they still have a match to finish the qualifiers. After missing out in the last Nations Cup in Egypt, Gabon will be participating in the 2022 edition thanks to their win over DR Congo on Thursday.
