I am sure that no right-thinking Nigerian will endanger his life to support the candidacy of any South-East politician – Buhari’s Ex-aide

Abdurrahman Sumaila, a former Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Assembly Matters, claims that no right-thinking Nigerian will support any South-East politician running for president in 2023.

Sumaila revealed this in a statement to journalists in Kano on Thursday.

The current situation in the southeast, he believes, shows that the region cannot be trusted with the country’s leadership.

“With these atrocities committed by the South-East people on record, how can Nigerians entrust them to govern us? I am sure not a single right-thinking Nigerian will endanger his life to support the candidature of any South-East politician contesting for presidency come 2023 general elections.”, He said.

Sumaila further stated that it has now become evident that the attacks are being carried out with the intent of causing chaos in the country.

He stated that “the perpetrators of the attacks must understand that if there is chaos in the country, then nobody including the perpetrators can escape”.

He advised elders in the South-East to publicly condemn the continuous attacks by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), or risk being held responsible for the heinous crime.

According to the ex-presidential adviser, Nigerians will regard the Southern elite to be a part of the armed militia attacks in the region until they clarify their position.

“The elite in the South-East should borrow a leaf from their northern counterparts such as Arewa Consultative Forum and Northern Elders Forum, who have been persistently condemning the activities of Boko Haram fighters and bandits in the North,” he said.
