IPOB’s Lawyer, Simon Ekpa, Says It’s Time To Bring Peace Back To Igboland

The attorney for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has made a forceful plea for peace in the southeast region of Nigeria, asking the populace to act immediately to bring stability back. This declaration follows the arrest of Simon Ekpa, the self-declared leader of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, and the escalation of insecurity. Although Ejiofor did not specifically mention Ekpa, his comments were directed at people he believes have been inciting violence and spreading lies in the area.

In his reflections on prior deceitful techniques, Ejiofor emphasized that criminal activity, fraud, and lies have a time limit. He made the point that there is no going back once the truth is out. Additionally, he reminded the audience of his earlier warnings about alleged preparations to militarily help the Biafran cause, including statements of warships and fighter jets, which he characterized as lies intended for his own benefit. Ejiofor maintained his position that these accusations were untrue in the face of intense criticism and threats at the time, and the current circumstances have supported his statements.

The attorney urged anyone who had been duped by these untrue stories to consider their behavior and the potential harm they may have caused. He underlined that the moment has come to concentrate on regional healing and peace restoration. While acknowledging the Igbo people’s historical marginalization within the broader Nigerian political structure, Ejiofor emphasized that nonviolent measures are the only way to attain true liberation. In order to achieve freedom, he condemned the use of deception, violence, and criminality, arguing that these strategies would only serve to undermine the cause and the people they are intended to assist.

Ejiofor instead promoted a peace-based approach, calling on the populace to unite in order to resolve their problems amicably and legally. The moment has come, he said, for the Igbo people to try to make amends and make amends to the gods for the wrongs done to their land. He concluded by urging cooperation, introspection, and a dedication to nonviolent activism in the fight for political freedom and justice.
