Lagos State Government is set to shut down all illegal abbatoirs and in the state to to curb unwholesome processed meat and meat products.
According to Ms Abisola Olusanya, Acting Commissioner for Agriculture, the ministry has identified 50 illegal slaughter slabs and this illegal slabs would be shut down as they are a concern hence the inauguration of the Monitoring, Enforcement and Compliance (MEC) Team of the ministry over the weekend.
She went on further to urge whistle-blowers to assist the government by reporting them to the task force and also she listed some authorized abattoirs in the state as Abattoir and Lairage Complex, Agege; Achakpo Mechanised Abattoir, Ajegunle; Ologe Mechanised Abattoir, Badagry (under construction); Matori Slaughter Slab; Itire Slaughter Slab; Ilaje Slaughter Slab; Ikorodu Slaughter Slab; Badagry Slaughter Slab; and Epe Slaughter Slab.
