Lightning Strike Sets Trafford Hospital Aflame

On the 28th of July, 2021, It was reported that Trafford Hospital had been set aflame due to an unexpected lightning strike during a heavy storm.

It prompted the swift extraction of all workers and patients present in the area during the incident.

Images show the roof of the hospital on fire as firefighters do their best to extinguish it.

A spokesperson from the NHS stated: “We can confirm an area of Trafford General Hospital has been struck by lightning which has caused a fire in an area of the roof”.

“A small number of patients and staff have been safely evacuated from one ward.”

There has been no disclosure of any injuries nor casualties by the ambulance service.

The UK has been subject to a surging number of incidents caused by flooding and thunderstorms as of late.
