Manchester City Beat Tottenham 2-1. Spurs Are Still In The Running for The EFL Cup Thanks To Goals From Werner And Sarr

Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Tottenham Stadium to move on to the quarterfinals of the EFL Cup. Spurs won thanks to goals from Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr. They are still in the running for the EFL Cup.

Both teams made big changes to their lines before the game. Manchester City had a team that was partly made up of young players, while Tottenham changed their strategy and started with three center backs and a double pivot in the middle of the field. This change in strategy helped Tottenham control the ball and create chances to score.

Tottenham’s first goal came in the sixth minute, when Dejan Kulusevski led a counterattack and Werner scored with ease. Sarr scored a curled shot from center in the 26th minute to make it 2-0. Early in the second half, Matheus Nunes scored for Manchester City to tie the game.

Even though City had most of the ball in the second half, they couldn’t tie the game. Micky van de Ven’s hamstring injury scare, Savinho’s injury that needed a stretcher, and Yves Bissouma’s great goal-line clearance were all memorable events.

Tottenham has Vicario (6), Gray (6), Romero (7), Dragusin (7), Van de Ven (6), Sarr (8), Bentancur (7), Kulusevski (9), Johnson (6), Werner (8), and Solanke (7) in their starting eleven.
The starting eleven for Manchester City is Ortega (7), Lewis (7), Stones (6), Dias (6), Ake (6), Gundogan (4), McAtee (6), O’Reilly (6), Savinho (7), Nunes (7), and Foden (6).

Analysis after the game showed that Tottenham’s counterattacks were successful and that Manchester City had trouble keeping up with Spurs’ speed. The win is a big one for Ange Postecoglou, who is the boss of Tottenham.
