Both David Raya and Ethan Nwaneri have chosen to wear new numbers on the back of their 2025–26 shirts for the next season.
The traditional number for goalkeepers has been available since the previous incumbent, Aaron Ramsdale, left to Southampton last summer, and David, who has been our first-choice goalkeeper for the past two seasons, will formally become our number one.
The Spaniard is now wearing the shirt, following in the footsteps of David Seaman, Jens Lehmann, Manuel Almunia, Wojciech Szczesny, Petr Cech, Bernd Leno, and Ramsdale since the Premier League implemented squad numbers in 1993–94.
Ethan, who previously wore number 53 during his breakthrough performance this year, has taken the number 22 jersey that was left empty by David’s transfer.
Oleg Luzhnyi, Gael Clichy, and Pablo Mari all wore the number before David did so when he arrived from Brentford in August 2023. The England under-21 international has chosen it.
You can purchase your new 25/26 shirts featuring the duo’s new numbers now, but the modifications will take effect when the current campaign ends.
