Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) records first COVID-19 case

Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), today announced the first case of coronavirus at the hospital.

The Chief medical director (CMD) of the hospital, Prof. Anthony Igwegbe disclosed this earlier today.

The CMD said the patient was diagnosed with coronavirus after undergoing test at the hospital. The test result, according to Prof. Anthony was released on the 23rd of May.

He further said that the diagnosed patient has since then been moved immediately to an isolation centre in Anambra to receive treatment.

According to him, this is the first case of COVID-19 recorded in the hospital. He further added that every necessary precautions were taken and that every person that attended to, or was in proximity to the patient made use of personal protection equipments.

He then proceed to assure that the Nnamdi Azikwe University and staff will remain vigilant as ever.
