Olakunle Is Excited By The Super Eagles’ Unexpected Call-Up For Russia vs Nigeria.

Olusegun Olakunle, a defender for FC Krasnodar, has expressed his sincere happiness and appreciation after receiving his first Super Eagles call-up.

The 23-year-old forward described his humble beginnings leading up to his first international call-up in an emotional interview, calling his invitation a “privilege and honor.”

The former youth international, who represented the Golden Eaglets at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil, stated, “I think it’s a privilege and an honor for me to be in the Super Eagles. Playing for the national team is what every player dreams of.”

“I think I can do better, but it’s not by my play or my power. I have to prove myself, my abilities, and my readiness to everyone.

During the 2017 Under-15 camp, Olakunle, who has previously played for the national Under-15 and Under-17 teams, initially came to attention.

Two years later, however, he created a name for himself in the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, when he ended as the top scorer and helped Nigeria earn a spot in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Brazil as well as the continental title event in Tanzania.

The teenage winger’s skill was clear even though Nigeria lost in the World Cup Round of 16. Because of that exposure, he was able to travel to Europe, where he started working in Denmark before moving to Russia.

“It was a great opportunity and a big privilege to come to Denmark and make my first debut there,” he remarked. I scored eight goals and provided six assists in roughly 24 games. I had a fantastic season.

As he prepares for the hardships of playing for the Super Eagles, he gave appreciation to his family for supporting him.

Olakunle, who was born in Kwara State, said, “I thought it was too early when I received the message.” “However, my family advised me that it’s not too early; you simply need to go there and perform your professional duties,” and now here I am.
