Over Three US Air Force Stations In Britain, Unidentified Drones Were Detected

The two nations have verified that they have seen unidentified drones flying over three US Air Force sites in Britain.

Between Wednesday and Saturday, the objects were observed flying above the US Air Force’s (USAF) Lakenheath, Mildenhall, and Feltwell facilities, which are all part of the Royal Air Force.

According to a statement from the US Air Forces in Europe, “installation leaders concluded that none of the incursions affected base residents or critical infrastructure.”

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, there were perhaps five or six drones, and their movements seemed coordinated. According to the source, US defense officials are still looking into where they came from, but they didn’t seem like hobby drones. The source went on to say that there is no proof they were able to get any crucial intelligence and that they never threatened the bases.

“We take threats seriously and maintain robust measures at defense sites,” a spokesman for the British Ministry of Defense stated. Counter-drone security features are part of this.

According to both countries, they will not comment further.

In eastern England, the three bases are all within a few miles of one another. The USAF’s 48th Fighter Wing, which has participated in post-9/11 operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, is based at Lakenheath, while Mildenhall has been home to the only permanent American wing in Europe that carries out air refueling operations since 1992.

When a car tried to smash through the Mildenhall base’s entrance in 2017, US personnel opened fire and the base was momentarily locked down.
