The National Convention of the People’s Democratic Party has begun.
The event began with the National Anthem and was followed by Christian and Islamic prayers.
Those who have arrived include Governor of Adamawa State and Chairman of the National Convention Planning Committee, Ahmadu Fintiri; Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State; Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State; Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
The Minority Leader of the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe; and senators Philip Aduda, Biodun Olujimi and Obinna Ogba are among the lawmakers present at the venue.
Security operatives are making frantic efforts to secure life and property in and around the Eagles Square and the Federal Secretariat by extension.
While the operatives have blocked the roads around the venue to limit vehicular movements to the VIPs, fire vans and ambulances are parked at strategic points in and around the place.
