PLATEAU: 57 Health Workers Have Contracted COVID-19 In The Course Of Their Duties In various Parts Of The State.

Nimkong Lar, Commissioner For health in Plateau has made this revelation on Wednesday at a press briefing in Jos stating that 57 health workers have contracted the virus in the course of their duties in various parts of the state.

According to Lar, the state has a total of 571 confirmed cases with a record of 28 case on Tuesday, which is the highest recorded so far.

“We have conducted 9,039 test, we have 7,324 results and 1,715 pending while 571 are confirmed cases.

”132 are on admission in four treatment centres, 260 discharged and we have recorded 16 deaths,”

He also noted the voluntary community testing in the 17 local Government areas which was scheduled for Government and Non- Government organisations.

Dan Manjang, Commissioner for Communication also said that the Government would take action against civil servants who refused to submit themselves for the COVID-19 test.

Mr. Manjang said that the exercise which was supposed to be voluntary has been made compulsory for them.

He also said that public should not stigmatize people who submit themselves for the voluntary test saying that it is not a death sentence and by the way people have recovered from it.
