Presidential Tribunal Begins Pre-trial Session

C

The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) will begin its sitting in Abuja today with a pre-hearing session.

The major petitioners include Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and others. They are challenging the pronouncement of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The court pre-hearing resumed at about 9:15 am with an opening remark by the Presiding Justice Haruna Tsammani, who leads a  five-man panel of Justices. Justice Tsammani maintained the panel will do justice to the case and advised the lawyers against making sensational comments.

He also asked for their cooperation since the case is time bound and they should be wary of bringing unnecessary applications that will waste the time of the court. The Judge concluded by saying that everyone will be satisfied with the verdict at the end of the case.
