The Youngest Nollywood Director To Earn ₦100 Million Is Nora Awolowo

With her first feature film, “Red Circle,” Nigerian filmmaker Nora Awolowo became the youngest Nollywood producer to earn over ₦100 million at the box office. The movie, which made its cinematic debut…

The film made ₦33.8 million on its first weekend, grew to ₦74.5 million at the end of the second week, and then surpassed ₦101.8 million in the third week, according to FilmOne Entertainment.

“This movie is proof of the importance of giving fresh voices a platform. Moses Babatope of FilmOne, the official distributor of the movie, stated, “Nora brought a clear vision and proved that audiences respond to bold storytelling.”

Akay Mason directed and Abdul Tijani-Ahmed wrote the screenplay for “Red Circle,” which was produced in collaboration with Tijani-Ahmed under Nora’s Rixel Studios. The narrative centers on a fearless journalist named Fikayo Holloway (portrayed by Folu Storms), who becomes entangled in a perilous criminal network while investigating corruption.

Bukky Wright, Lateef Adedimeji, Timini Egbuson, Tobi Bakre, Omowunmi Dada, Mr. Macaroni, Femi Branch, and rapper Ruggedman are among the film’s star-studded cast members.

Born and reared in Lagos, Nora attended Ekiti State University to study accounting before pursuing a career in photography and documentary filmmaking, where her award-winning work brought her widespread acclaim. Her first full-length feature film is “Red Circle.”

Nora has expressed her opinions on the persistent issues confronting the Nigerian film industry in a number of interviews, ranging from a lack of infrastructure to financial limitations.

She emphasized how urgently the government must assist in setting up sound stages, studios, and special film communities.

She thinks the industry is advancing despite these obstacles despite having few resources.
“Just think of what we could do if we had more,” she continued.
Birmingham, Streatham, Manchester, and Greenwich have previously hosted premieres of “Red Circle,” which is presently on an international screening tour. There are plans to release it in North America.

In Nollywood, Nora Awolowo, who is only 26 years old, is already being hailed as a rising star and voice of her generation.
