According to President Bola Tinubu, the newly formed north-central, south-west, and south-south development commissions have governing boards and managing directors.
Tinubu asked the red chamber to ratify the appointees in a letter that Senate President Godswill Akpabio read aloud on the chamber floor on Thursday.
CENTRAL NORTH
Cosmas Akyhir was proposed by the president to serve as the board’s chairman. Akyhir is from the state of Benue.
Plateau native Tsenyil Yiltsen was named the commission’s managing director.
The board also includes Muhammad Bashar (Niger), James Uloko (Benue), Atika Ajanah (Kogi), Bilgis Jumoke Sanni (Kwara), and Aishatu Ibrahim (Nasarawa).
Atotse Abraham (Benue), Solomon Adodo (FCT), Habu Maman (north-east), Atinuke Owolabi (south-west), Rachael Nse (south-south), Boniface Izziogu (south-east), Zakari Jikantoro (Niger), Dauda Kigbu (Nasarawa), Zakari Jikantoro (Niger), Sulaiman Ali (Kogi), Bunmi Olusona (Kwara), Umar Mantu (Plateau), and Solomon Adodo (FCT).
The South West.
Tinubu selected Charles Akinola as managing director and Olubunmi Adetunmbi as chairman of the South West Development Commission (SWDC).
Bolaji Ariyo, Joseph Olugbenga, Olumuyiwa Olabimtan, Adewinle Martins, Ibrahim Olaifa, Kabiru Lakwaya, Abdul Adamu, Arinola Fagbemi, Ukoha Onyekwere, Howell Ihenacho, Olugbenga Olufehinti, Tele Ogunjobi, Funmilayo Tejuosho, Fatai Ibikunle, and Lateef Ajijola are among the other nominees.
South-South
The president proposed Usoro Akpabio, a native of Akwa Ibom, as the managing director and Chibudom Nwuche as the chairman of the South South Development Commission.
Aganaba Steven (Bayelsa), Timi Ayibatonye (Delta), Joseph Ugheoke (Edo), Sony Abang (Cross River), and Marcus Eji (Rivers) have also been named to the board.
Charles Zuofa (Bayelsa), Nkereuwem Ebong (Akwa Ibom), Femi Oise (Edo), Charles Enukhowhate (Delta), Tijani Kaura (north-west), Tabitha Sallah (north-east), Yusuf Amao (north-central), Joseph Mmamal (south-east), Bukonola Braimoh (south-west), and Larry Odey (Cross River) are among the other members.
Akpabio read the president’s request and then forwarded the letter to the appropriate committees for review and approval.
