All broadcasting stations in Nigeria have been ordered by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to stop using Twitter, a popular microblogging website.
On Monday morning, its Director General, Armstrong Idachaba, released a statement to that effect.
Mr Idachaba advised television and radio stations to deactivate their Twitter accounts and “avoid using Twitter as a source (UGC) of information gathering for news and program presentation, particularly phone-in.” This follows the federal government’s ban on Twitter activity in Nigeria.
