Influential Hollywood producer, director, comedian, writer, and actor Tyler Perry opened his new sprawling 330-acre headquarters in Atlanta over the weekend, closing the festivities with a star-studded worship service.

Perry has big plans for the complex. In addition to the sound stages, the director hopes to also add retail shops and restaurants to make the headquarters a tourist destination. He also intends to use a portion of the land to create a crisis center for survivors of human trafficking. Perry estimates the projects will take 36 months to complete.
Earlier this year, Perry thanked God for his success that has helped other black actors in a speech at the BET Awards.
“When I built my studio, I built it in a neighborhood that is one of the poorest black neighborhoods in Atlanta so that young black kids could see that a black man did that, and they can do it too,” he said.
Students from Rockvale High School in Tennessee has said they will never stop praying before their football games, after a complaint was filed against the coach.
Tenessee students at Rockvale High School called an audible to save a longstanding team prayer tradition after an atheist group tried to shut it down.
The middle Tennessee school district is responding to a formal complaint filed by the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) after a photo of a baptism on the Springfield High School football field appeared on a coach’s personal social media account.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation issued an objection against football coach Rick Rice after he prayed for his team. According to the organization, only students are allowed to lead prayers. The coach apologized for any misunderstanding after discussing the matter with the school principal and acknowledged that he led two prayers after games so far that season.
But students from the high school believe the complaint was not needed.
“We always prayed before games. It was just part of what we did,” said Drew Kilgour, a Rockvale resident.
“That’s something that you see on the fields. That’s something that you see in the locker rooms. That’s something you see in the classrooms, in small groups when it comes to any athletic sport, but especially in football, we really see that,” Ronnisha Simmons-Duke, a mother of a Rockvale high school student, said.
In response to the complaint, Rockvale students Madison Nowacki and La’Naya Nelson announced an official prayer circle at 6:30 p.m. before their weekly football game, according to the Daily Journal.
We have been talking about wanting to pray with our team for a while, but we were scared at first,” Nowacki said. “After the complaint, we thought we should voice our opinions as well and stand with our coach.”
Nowacki continued: “I believe that the complaint was very unnecessary and it upsets me to see it. Coach Rice is an amazing, outgoing and hardworking coach. …It was a prayer to heal the boys, and make sure they stayed strong.”
With brothers on the football team, Nowacki and Nelson hope the prayers help the boys “play harder, smarter and stronger.”
The FFRF is an atheist-led nonprofit organization that works to enforce the division between church and state and most recently called out a school in Robertson County, Tennesee, for baptizing athletes. According to CBN News, the school system responded that the activities were student-initiated and led.
Pastor Egla was abducted at his residence in Shabu community on the outskirts of Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State in North Central Nigeria
The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a cleric, John Egla, who was identified as a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lafia.
The spokesperson of the command, Nansel Ramhan, confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lafia
Nigeria ranks 12th on Open Doors 2019 World Watch list of the 50 countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian.
Mr Ramhan said that Mr Egla was abducted at his residence in Shabu community on the outskirts of Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State in North Central Nigeria.
The spokesperson said the divisional police officer of the Shabu Police Division reported hearing sporadic gunshots at about 1:16 a.m. on Wednesday.
He explained that on reaching the location, the police team discovered that the gunmen had abducted the pastor, who was with his family.
Mr Ramhan said the police found six empty shells of AK 47 ammunition at the scene of the abduction and that the police had deployed a team to rescue Egla .
A Senior Pastor with the RCCG, Falaye Omoniyi, who corroborated the incident, said that Mr Egla was the pastor in charge of the Oasis of Life Parish of the church’s Nasarawa Province 2.
Mr Omoniyi said the wife and members of the abducted pastor’s family had been traumatized by the incident, although nobody was hurt during the operation.
He appealed to security operatives to expedite action to rescue the pastor.
This is coming amid rising Christian persecution in the northern part of Nigeria, and it’s the latest in the wave of killing and abductions of Christian clerics in the country also.
Recall that Five RCCG pastors were also recently abducted along the Ijebu-Ode axis, Ogun State. on their way to the annual Holy Ghost Convention. According to police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, about 10 hoodlums, intercepted the commercial bus marked KW 230 XA in which the kidnapped victims were travelling from Abia State to Lagos on Thursday, August 1, for the RCCG 2019 ministers’ conference, which always precedes the annual Convention of the church.

Nigeria Police Force declares massive war against kidnappers
The Nigeria Police Force has declared war against kidnappers following the incessant attacks on people in and around the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and other parts of the country.
In a statement released on Thursday, October 10th, the Nigeria Police Force said massive counter kidnapping operations are currently ongoing. Nigerians are however advised not to panic but remain calm with the assurance that all victims will be rescued unhurt and their abductors will be prosecuted by law.
The statement read: “The Nigeria Police Force is currently carrying out a massive counter kidnapping operation aimed at rescuing all victims of recent kidnapping incidents in and around the FCT.
“Citizens are advised not to panic but remain calm as the law enforcement agencies and the security community are determined to rescue all the victims unhurt, arrest the kidnappers and their collaborators and restore law and order.
“The exercise which is a joint operation between the Police and other security agents is being carried out around Kuje – Robuchi axis and other blackspots within the Federal Capital Territory.”
