Two people were confirmed dead after a truck smashed into a running vehicle near a military checkpoint at Mista-Ali on the Jos-Zaria road in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday.
A source said the accident, which occurred around 3pm, claimed the lives of the truck driver and one person inside the other vehicle.
The source who identified himself as Dauda Barje Wundu said the accident was caused by personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who were chasing the truck driver, adding that the FRSC personnel fled the area when the accident occurred.
Wundu further noted that other victims of the accident sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, the owner of the truck has demanded justice from relevant authorities for the families of the deceased, as well as those that sustained injuries.
