Vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo on Monday, cautioned his supporters against distracting him from his vice-presidential engagements.
This is following the growing trend of advocacy for his 2023 presidential aspiration in the coming elections.
This online media platform gathered that the decision to address supporters and loyalists on Monday and sternly called them to order was a result of President Buhari’s expression of reservations about Osinbajo’s distractions from his statutory responsibilities.
The Chief of Staff to the President was said to have called the Vice President and offered him “unofficial” brotherly advice to minimize the distractions associated with his presidential aspiration, a credible Villa source told OpenLife late Monday night.
The Vice-President was reportedly told that President Buhari is not against his aspiration but unhappy with the distractions that come with it.
The source said that Osinbajo was handed options to consider in furtherance of his aspiration.
Among the options is the sacking of Senator Ojodu Femi, an aide to Osinbajo who has been the arrowhead of the campaign group and has “Become an embarrassment to the Presidency.”
Osibanjo was reportedly reminded that no presidential aide in the Villa has caused 2023 distractions like Ojodu, an attitude the Presidency frowns at.
The source stated, “They may sack Ojodu this week. The Vice President does not really have a problem with the President. The only worry is that he should have called them to order before now, especially that Ojodu,”.
However, the Vice President promised to see the President on the matter.
But as a first step, he had to officially, through his media assistant, Laolu Akande, caution his supporters on Monday saying:
“Any information on activities and actions of the VP will come directly from his office and not sponsored speculations in the press.”
As of the time of this report, it was not clear if Osinbajo has meant the President.
