5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Jose Paseiro, Super Eagles New Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday announced Former FC Porto boss, Jose Paseiro as the new Super Eagles head coach.

His appointment comes about three weeks after the sacking of Franco-German Gernot Rohr who was replaced with interim manager Augustine Eguavoen.

In this article, I will list out five things you probably did not know about Jose Paseiro below;

1.) He was born José Vítor dos Santos Peseiro on 4 April 1960 in Coruche, Portugal.

2.) He coached football clubs like Sporting CP – which he took to the 2005 UEFA Cup Final, FC Porto and Real Madrid where he worked as an assistant to Carlos Queiroz.

3.) Prior to his appointment as the Super Eagles head coach, Paseiro coached 17 clubs and countries in total, from 1994 -2021, his last was the Venezuelan national team.

4.) Paseiro has been sacked about eight times in different clubs/countries while he willingly resigned in three of his managerial position.

5.) His last coaching job was with the Venezuelan national team where he was thrashed 3–0 away to Colombia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification on his debut on October 9, 2020.
