According to Israeli military officials and first responders, a Hezbollah drone attack on an Israeli army base on Sunday killed four soldiers and injured over 60 others. It is among the most brutal assaults on Israel since the war started in October of last year. The Israeli military stated that it would investigate how the drone got into Israel without raising any red flags.
Israel’s air defenses will be strengthened by the US sending an advanced anti-missile system and US personnel to run it, the Pentagon announced Sunday, in response to Iran’s unprecedented attacks against the nation this year.
According to the UN, despite recent attacks that damaged peacekeeping soldiers, peacekeepers are still present in all positions throughout Lebanon. UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon are being questioned about their safety after some of them were hurt in recent days when Israeli fire struck their positions.
Israeli raids on Gaza on Sunday killed 40 Palestinians, including at least 13 children. At least 300 Palestinians have been killed in the last nine days by Israeli bombardment of Gaza’s largest refugee camp. Israel has expanded its onslaught in northern Gaza, blocking food supplies and ordering hospitals to evacuate.
