According to reports, Kylian Mbappé is connected to a rape inquiry in Sweden. His lawyer said on Thursday that he will save any answers for the Swedish legal system “if necessary.”
Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard told the reporters, “He prioritizes providing his explanations, if required, to the Swedish judiciary.”
“Media allegations suggesting that Kylian Mbappé had commented on the events of his trip to Stockholm” were aggressively denounced by the attorney.
The France and Real Madrid striker had consensual intercourse with a young woman during the trip last week, according to reports published on Thursday by RMC Sports and the French daily Le Parisien.
The two outlets claim that Mbappé has communications from the woman “with a very positive tone,” which describe a pleasant meeting and amicable relationships.
Le Parisien went on to say that it was unable to verify whether the lady who sent those texts was also the complainant in the rape case.
Due to a left thigh injury that prevented him from playing for France in the Nations League, Mbappé chose to travel to Stockholm with several pals, arriving on October 9 and departing on October 11.
According to several Swedish media outlets, the group went to a nightclub and a restaurant. Following their departure from Sweden, a woman went to the police and said she had been raped.
Following the first allegation by Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet that a rape inquiry had been launched, Mbappé took to social media on Monday to reject the report as “fake news,” claiming that the claims were related to his financial dispute with his previous team, Paris Saint-Germain. Tuesday was the day of the case’s hearing.
Mbappé posted on X, formerly Twitter, that “it’s becoming so predictable, the day before the hearing, as if by coincidence.”
Although he has not named Mbappé, a Swedish prosecutor has stated that an investigation has been launched.
Due to the fact that “he has done nothing wrong,” attorney Canu-Bernard told reporters on Tuesday that the 2018 World Cup champion was “at ease.”
