Adams: Tinubu is Similar to Adolf Hitler, Harsh Policies, Suffering Nigerians

Iba Gani Adams, the Yorubaland leader Aare Ona Kakanfo, compared President Bola Tinubu to Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Nazi Germany, yesterday, claiming that Tinubu’s harsh policies were the reason why Nigerians were suffering.

In an open letter on the status of the country that he personally signed, Adams voiced his opposition to Tinubu’s leadership and encouraged him to rescind some of his harsh measures because time was running out.

“Your Excellency, from the over 65 million Yoruba people in the South-West of Nigeria, which includes the states of Edo, Delta, Kwara, and Kogi, I bring you good news.

As one of the more than 200 million Nigerians that God created, I too write this message to you. We do not regret our creation and our placement here along the African continent’s West African axis.

We are actually glad to be here since, as far as I’m aware, God has not gifted any nation with as many natural and people riches as Nigeria.

Nigerians have undoubtedly been disappointed by previous leaders since 1960 due to the “bad leadership and selfish resource management” of both the country and its people.

Many Nigerians were convinced that you would perform better than Muhammadu Buhari, a soldier who raised insecurity and deepened poverty levels in Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, when you arrived with the ‘Emilokan’ coinage in the run-up to the 2023 elections. Events of today have shown they were mistaken.

“Mr. President, you have truly let many Nigerians down who believed you were the Messiah they had been waiting for. Let me state the facts without caring whose ox is gored. The evidence is there to support the facts.

“When you assumed command of the Nigerian Armed Forces on May 29, 2023, the cost of a liter of fuel was less than N200.” It is currently greater than N1000. What kind of reforms are these, I ask you as the Petroleum Minister? Naira to the US dollar was worth less than N740 in May 2023. It is currently greater than N1,600.

“The economy is currently being managed by your two right-hand men, Yemi Cardoso, the governor of CBN, and Wale Edun, the minister of finance, when you were the governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007. What precisely are the daily briefings on fiscal, economic, and financial matters that they provide you with to reassure you that they are knowledgeable about their work in those two offices?

Many Nigerians exhaled with relief when Buhari departed on May 29, 2023, knowing that insecurity would soon come to an end. The rate at which Nigerians are being kidnapped and some even killed—even after ransom is paid—is heartbreakingly high right now, from the North to the South, East to the West. It’s as though these homicidal maniacs have just been let loose on Nigerians from the furthest reaches of hell.

As the head of state, the increasing level of unrest around the nation has raised concerns about the quality of the daily briefings you receive, particularly from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, the Chief of Army Staff, General Taoreed Lagbaja, and other Security Chiefs, regarding their strategies for apprehending these assassins and getting them back where they belong.

You and your party ought to be considerate of the hardships faced by Nigerians, in my opinion. Mr. President, do you not believe that this drastic and evil rise in petrol prices, particularly at a time when Nigerians are already at a breaking point, is a certain way to spark a crisis? The current economic hardship is too much for Nigerians to handle.

How long do you really think such autocratic approach will hold up? You have traveled to numerous nations since last year; China was your most recent stop. Do you believe that other countries treat their inhabitants any differently than you do Nigerians?

Hitler, a democratically elected leader, swiftly converted a republican democracy into a constitutional dictatorship. The Fuhrer swore that the democratic process would be used to destroy democracy. And he succeeded in destroying Germany in 1945. The Nazi leader crippled and then destroyed the Weimar Republic prior to the devastation.

The Fuhrer wrecked the economy, silenced political dissent, and eventually threatened Germany’s democratic institutions. Germany was in complete disarray when Hitler entered the history books on April 30, 1945. But since Germans never gave up, their nation now boasts the largest economy in Europe.

“I hope I’m wrong, but I see a connection between what happened in Nigeria today and what happened during Hitler’s rise to power,” he said in closing.
