Amid a Seat Dispute, Senator Natasha Returns To The Senate.

After a one-week break, plenary resumed today, and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, arrived at the Senate Chamber with her husband on Wednesday.

Her spouse kissed her in a fleeting but loving moment before she went into the room to sit down.

The senator from Kogi State assumed her newly designated seat, which has been the subject of a continuing dispute.

She accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, which has caused tensions in the Senate over the seat debate.

The Senate President has denied any impropriety and rejected the accusation. But the dispute and accusation have sparked new questions about behavior and decorum in the legislature.

All eyes were on Senator Natasha when the plenary reopened, indicating that despite the ongoing issue, she was prepared to complete her legislative duties.

As the Ethics Committee prepares to begin its investigation, demonstrators in support of the Kogi legislator stormed the National Assembly on Wednesday.

The committee, which is led by Senator Neda Imaseun, is tasked with looking into Natasha’s apparent disregard for Senate regulations.

Tear gas cannisters were shot at the demonstrators as they assembled, but they seemed unfazed and regrouped behind security agency barricades.

The demonstrators urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene, accusing the Senate President of dehumanizing and silencing women.

Sexual allegations, they added, are a matter of human rights.
