At a vital zonal conference to address the region’s growth and development, the six South-West governors have arrived at Lagos House in Ikeja.
Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Biodun Oyebaniji (Ekiti), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun) are present at the South-West Governors Forum meeting, which is being hosted by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the forum’s chairman and the governor of Lagos State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the secretary to the Lagos State Government, Barr. (Mrs.) Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and the chief of staff, Tayo Ayinde, welcomed the guests who began arriving at Lagos House, Ikeja, at 10:55 am, with Governor Makinde arriving first.
Following the arrival of all the governors, the closed-door conference began at 12:15 p.m. and will center on regional concerns and shared interests, including the South-West Development Commission, agriculture, food security, economic cooperation, and security.
Governor Sanwo-Olu was unanimously elected as the Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum at a similar meeting held in Lagos on June 10, 2024, which is being followed up on today.
Under Sanwo-Olu’s direction, the forum had prioritized strategies to support regional development in the South-West zone since its most recent meeting.
