Oba Adekunle Gabriel Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun of Ijesa land, ruled over the country for 42 years until passing away.
Oba Aromolaran passed suddenly on Wednesday night after being hospitalized to Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, for an unidentified illness.

According to The Nation, when security personnel, comprising members of the Nigerian Police and the Department of State Service, gained control of the palace’s entrance on Thursday morning, there was fear in Ilesa.

It was learned that the monarch’s family had been removing the king’s personal effects from the palace after the gates had been closed, signifying the king’s passing.
Confirming the late king’s passing, the community, represented by Chief Olayinka Fasuyi of Ijesaland’s Asiwaju, stated on Thursday afternoon that Oba Aromolaran’s passing marks the end of an era.
A message provided to news reporters claimed that “An era comes to an abrupt end! A great chapter in history ends.The Oduduwa torch bearer moves. Obokun Adimula’s emblem is in transit. Ijesaland honors the life of our Imperial Majesty, her hero.
