The Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national football team, had a distressing experience at a Libyan airport, which has deeply alarmed the Confederation of African Football.
Following reports that the team and their staff were left stuck in frightening conditions for several hours, the federation emphasized the need to contact Libyan and Nigerian authorities immediately.
The Disciplinary Board of CAF is now looking into the event.
This was said in a statement that was retrieved on Monday afternoon from the CAF website.
“CAF Views the Disturbing and Unacceptable Experiences of the Nigerian National Football Team (‘Super Eagles’) at an Airport in Libya in a Very Serious Light,” was the headline of the report.
After learning that the Nigerian National Football Team (also known as the “Super Eagles”) and their technical team were left stranded in appalling conditions for several hours at an airport that they were purportedly told to land at by Libyan authorities, the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) contacted both the Libyan and Nigerian authorities.
The document stated that “appropriate action will be taken against those who violated the CAF Statutes and Regulations, and the matter has been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for investigation.”
