Burundi’s new president has been sworn into office today, Thursday, 18 June. This is coming on the heels of the death of the former President, Pierre Nkurunziza who died of heart attack.
Evariste won the election held on the 20th of May but was delayed from being sworn in by the State constitutional court ruling which asked that investiture be provided following the death of former president Nkurunziza.
The new president has, however, been sworn in today at the Ingoma stadium in Gitekay. He toak the oath of office and was announced the president of the country.
