Court Grants Abba Kyari Permission To See Medical Personnel

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, February 28, gave an order to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to grant detained Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari access to medical personnel.

Justice Inyang Ekwo gave the order while delivering judgment on the bail application filed by Kyari, the suspended Commander of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Recall that Kyari is in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency over alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

The judge, however, turned down the bail request but gave him permission to see medical personnel.

Justice Ekwo said, “The only order I will make now is an order allowing the applicant access to any medical personnel of his choice. The court will wait for the expiration of the duration of the February 22 order of the court.”

Justice Ekwo further adjourned till March 15, 2022, for the hearing of the fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by Kyari.
