The Minister of state for education, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has revealed that the federal government is making active plans to reopen schools. He, however, stated that this will not be happening in two weeks time as is been circulated in some quarters.
The Minister said this during the daily briefing of the Presidential task force on COVID-19 on thursday. Mr Nwajiuba said that there’s no speccific reopening date for schools yet, but works are on the way. He further urged citizens to not regard the rumours that the FG will reopen schools in two weeks time.
He said “we are all seriously interested in reopening, and I believe that we will reopen soon. But I can’t confirm what your children said that we will reopen in two weeks. the issue around reopening has nothing to do with the availability of schools or not. it has to do with national governance.”
He made further comments on the issue, and charged the populace to continue to stay safe and abide by every government directives.
