İlkay Gündoğan is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Manchester City and the Germany national team.
In the latest round of testing, reports have it that Gundogan has tested positive to coronavirus during the latest round of testing.
According to the club in a statement:
“Manchester City FC can confirm that Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive for COVID-19.
Ilkay is now observing a 10-day period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.
Everyone at the Club wishes Ilkay a speedy recovery.”
Manchester City is yet to kick-start their 2020/21 Premier League season. This is because of their involvement in the quarter-final stage of the Champions League last season.
Their opening league fixture holds today with an away trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
