Mary, Princess of Denmark, is down with coronavirus, the royal court said in a statement on Thursday.
Presently the royal has been kept on isolation in a wing of the Amalienborg Palace in the heart of Copenhagen and the virus has not been detected among other members of the family, it said on Wednesday.
The statement read “In connection with the test result, the Royal House of Denmark is receiving advice from the Danish Patient Safety Authority concerning detection of infection,”.
“The Crown Princess will remain in isolation until it is once again safe to end the isolation according to the applicable guidelines.”
Denmark’s government was forced to reintroduce some restrictions last week, including remote learning for school students below grade 10, as COVID-19 cases surged.
Bars, nightclubs, and restaurants were also ordered to close before midnight in a crackdown that was to last four weeks.
Denmark is one of a number of countries in the European Union that have started to immunise children against coronavirus.
