Edo election drama continues as governor Obaseki prepares to meet with officials of the Peaople’s Democratic Party, PDP ahead of his defection to the party.
Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent governor of Edo state that was disqualified from the APC governorship primaries is set to meet with the opposition party PDP. He will be joining the People’s Democratic Party, APC alongside a lot of his supporters, which includes 18 local government chairmen in the state.
Obaseki had earlier today tendered a formal resignation from the All Progressives Congress, APC after it became clear that the party will not be rescinding their decision about his eligibility. The Governor has been taking strides to ensure that he gets a slot at the upcoming Edo governorship election of September 19.
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP listed the conditions for it to accept the Governor into the party, and Obaseki has fulfilled all the required conditions. In a chat with Vanguard, a close associate of the governor has attributed the loyalty and support shown to Obaseki to the popularity and strength of the governor.
