The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has caught Idris Okuneye again in Lagos. Okuneye is a controversial social media star who goes by the name Bobrisky.
Bobrisky was stopped by customs officials at Murtala Muhammed International Airport as he tried to get on a KLM flight from Amsterdam to London. A senior EFCC official said that Bobrisky was arrested again on Thursday night because he didn’t respond to multiple calls from the EFCC to talk about the accusations he made against the commission.
According to the EFCC source, Bobrisky’s claims were based on bribery and corruption. He said that he paid N15 million to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges against him. The EFCC has rejected these claims, which means Bobrisky could be charged with new crimes for giving false information.
According to the source, “we caught him in Lagos and will take him to Abuja.” “He said we were corrupt and bribed, but he kept ignoring our calls to back up these claims.” Such serious claims can’t be ignored. Besides that, he has also refused to go before the National Assembly to talk about this. He was so dangerous that we had to arrest him to make sure he has proof to back up his claims.
Head of Media and Publicity at the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, stated that Bobrisky had been arrested but wouldn’t say anything else.
Bobrisky recently wrote on Instagram that he thought the EFCC had arrested him and that he had been hurt in a fight with immigration police.
The EFCC had earlier said that Bobrisky could be charged with giving false information if his claims turned out to be false.
