Emir Bayero Is Restrained By The Court From Renovating Mini Palace.

Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, was once more barred from repairing the Nasarawa Mini Palace on Thursday by a Kano State High Court.

The Kano State Government, the Kano Attorney General, and the Kano Emirate Council are the parties that have filed an application in this case.
In a motion exparte dated September 12, the petitioners asked the court to stop Ado-Bayero from remodeling the Nasarawa tiny palace on State Road Kano. The petition was submitted through their attorney, Rilwanu Umar SAN.

The applicant’s prayer was deemed worthy and granted by Justice Dije Abdu-Aboki, the Chief Judge of Kano State and presiding judge, in her decision about the interlocutory injunction.

“It is important to note that the respondent did not file a counter-affidavit or written address challenging the applicant,” the speaker stated.
The matter was redirected to High Court 15 by Ms. Abdu-Aboki for additional discussion.

The petitioners’ attorney had earlier informed the court that Bayero had been removed from office in accordance with the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024.

“On September 14, my lord the respondent was served; he did not attend himself in person before the court, nor did he submit a counter-affidavit or written address.”

In their prayer, the applicant requested that the court rule that the Gidan Nasarawa Mini Palace is the property of the Emirate Council and the Kano State Government, not the respondent.

On September 13, the court issued an order of temporary injunction prohibiting the defendant, his representatives, privies, and everyone else acting on behalf of the order in any way from tearing down, remodeling, or making repairs.

In addition, the court ordered the parties involved in the lawsuit to keep the palace’s structural and architectural layout unchanged until the lawsuit is heard and decided.
