Former Man Utd star Patrice Evra has revealed he is sick of Lionel Messi winning the Ballon d’Or.
Instead, Evra wants to see a permier league player win the award rather than Messi claim a seventh triumph later this year.
And since 2008, only one Premier League player has found themselves on the podium, Virgil Van Dik in 2019, with Real Madrid and Barcelona dominating the top three spots.
But Evra is “sick” of seeing the same players claim the mantle of the world’s best player.
Evra said “In my opinion, this Ballon d’Or is for [N’golo] Kante or Jorginho… I’m sick of giving it to Messi,”.
“What did he win last year? Okay, the Copa America. With Barcelona what did he do?”.
However, PSG’s boss Mauricio Pochettino disagrees with Evra: “The Ballon d’Or should go to Messi without any doubt.
“And if I didn’t coach Messi, I would still say Messi.
“I answer with my heart. I always say what I feel. On the podium with him would have to be [Robert] Lewandowski and Cristiano.”
