Ex-Rep Adeogun Wants INEC To Improve BVAS For The Ondo Election

When he was in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ade Adeogun represented Akoko South East and Akoko South West. He has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) before the 2027 general elections.

Adeogun made this call after voting in the election for governor of Ondo State. He did so at Unit 2, Ward 15, Okede Baptist Primary School, Oba Akoko.

He was worried about the flaws in the current BVAS system and said, “INEC’s problem is that they need to improve the BVAS technology.” Identity control is more advanced than what BVAS is making right now. You are way behind the times if your system can’t work when it’s a little dark or when network connections are slow.

That the BVAS software needs to be updated before the 2027 polls was something Adeogun stressed. He also said, “They need to work on that to speed up the process and make the system run more smoothly.”

When Adeogun talked about a specific problem in his unit, he brought up the delay caused by broken BVAS equipment, which kept many older voters from being registered. He said, “BVAS was the problem here. It slowed down this unit and made it impossible for a lot of older voters to be registered.” Many people were upset by this.

“Look at that woman sitting there. She’s been here since morning and still can’t vote,” he said. The system won’t catch them even though their cards are right and everything is in order. They wouldn’t leave because they didn’t get why they were registered but couldn’t vote. I tried to convince them, and I hoped they could try again before the polls closed to see if the method would work.

Even with these problems, Adeogun praised the overall behavior of voters and security staff, saying that the voting process was mostly peaceful.
