On Tuesday night, a fire razed down a section of the popular Eke Market in Afikpo Town in Ebonyi State.
According to the reports, goods worth millions, including shops, were destroyed by the fire outbreak though no life was lost.
The cause of the fire was yet to be discovered but the traders who were taken unawares made frantic efforts to salvage their goods without success because of the intensity of the fire.
It was gathered that the Ebonyi State Gore Service station in Afikpo could not mobilize to stop the raging inferno because its equipment was not functioning.
The youths in the area came to the rescue and prevented the fire from escalating.
