Suspected herdsmen have killed a middle-aged woman who was returning from her farm at Yelewata community in the Guma Local Government Area, Benue State.
According to residents, the incident happened around 5pm on Wednesday.
The Chairman of Guma LGA, Caleb Aba, who confirmed the incident, said the woman was shot on her way back from her farm and she died on the spot.
“The woman had gone to a nearby bush to fetch firewood. While returning home, some herders accosted her and shot her to death, “he said.
Aba lamented that communities in the council had continued to experience attacks from suspected herders, adding that many people had been forced to relocate to Internally Displaced Persons’ camps.
