Henry Kelly, a Journalist And TV Host, Passes Away At Age 78.

Henry Kelly, a journalist and television host, passed away at the age of 78, according to his family.

Kelly began her career as a journalist before switching to light entertainment in the 1980s and 1990s, anchoring the TV game shows Game For A Laugh and Going For Gold.

Additionally, he hosted shows on Classic FM, LBC, and BBC Radio 4.

Kelly’s family confirmed in a statement that he “died peacefully” on Tuesday “after a period of ill health”.

“Henry will be sorely missed by his friends and family,” it said, “including his partner Karolyn Shindler, their son Alexander, Henry’s daughter Siobhan and her mother Marjorie.”

Kelly began working as a journalist in newspapers after being born in Dublin on April 17, 1946.

During Northern Ireland’s civil turmoil and the Troubles in the 1970s, he was employed by The Irish Times.

In 1976, he quit the newspaper to work for the BBC, where he was a correspondent and presenter for The World Tonight on Radio 4.

However, at the age of 34, he quit journalism in 1980 to work as a light entertainment host.

He later fronted the initial version of Good Morning Britain, TV-AM, and ITV’s Game for a Laugh breakfast show.

From the late 1980s to the mid-1990s, Kelly hosted the ten-season lunchtime quiz show Going For Gold.

Later, Kelly held shows on broadcast stations LBC and BBC Radio London, and she was one of the first presenters of Classic FM.
